During the day the gate at Peel harbour is controlled on site however, at night it is controlled remotely by Douglas Harbour master.
When we were attempting to enter at approximately 21:45 when it was just going dark, the bridge that is painted black so you can't see it (in the dark) suddenly started to close.
Diandus was barely through at this stage and we were just approaching behind.
Ernie had radioed through to advise the Harbour Master that two yachts would be entering.
Obviously the plonker in Douglas was not watching his CCTV or didn't bother to listen to what Ernie had said.
Luckily we were able to stop the boat using full reverse just short of the bridge an onlooker witnessing the potential accident.
This incident was reported to the Peel Harbour Master the following day.
